Good News for all that missed the deadline for filing for Homestead Exemption in the state of Florida!!!
If you purchased a new home or condo in the State of Florida and made it your permanent residence prior to January 1, 2020 you may file for tax year 2020 Homestead and other exemptions until September 18, 2020. The timely filing deadline for Homestead and all other exemptions was March 2, 2020 with an extended late filing deadline of September 18, 2020. State law (Sec. 196.011(8), Fla. Stat.) does not allow late filing for exemptions after September 18, 2020 regardless of any good cause reason for missing the late filing deadline.
