Puppy Pumpkin Pie Bites: a Fall Treasure

By: Denise & Melissa Stewart

Fall is finally here! Celebrate by making your pup a delicious treat: pumpkin pie bites. These treats taste just like a pumpkin pie dessert but are still heathy for your dog. They are delightfully mushy, so they are perfect for any age. Your dog will be begging for this fall snack until gingerbread season starts. Here is the easy, simple recipe:

Ingredients (yield: 4 dozen pie bites)

  • 1 cup oats
  • 2 cups whole-wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup powdered milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup pumpkin
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 3/4 cup water

Directions (cook time: 25 minutes)

  • Preheat oven to 350˚F
  • Put the oats, whole-wheat flour, powdered milk, and cinnamon in a bowl, and stir to distribute the flour and break up any lumps.
  • Add the pumpkin, egg, coconut oil, and water, stirring until the dough starts pulling together.
  • Line a mini muffin tin with liners or press directly into the pan. Put in the oven, and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Gently remove the pumpkin bites, and let your pup enjoy!
