Dine and Donate at Darbster in West Palm Beach, FL

If you’re an animal-lover and you also enjoy a good-quality, healthy meal, you need to go to Darbster in West Palm Beach, FL. Darbster was started by two vegetarians who wanted to bring first-rate vegetarian meals to South Florida. Darbster is a plant based bistro and has a creative menu that appeals to both vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. The restaurant owners’ goal is to make organic, natural, delicious, and vegetarian friendly cuisine that all people will love. The owners love dogs. In fact, the restaurant was named after their 17-year-old poodle, Darby. They adopted Darby when she was 10 years old from a puppy mill.

Now, why would animal lovers love to dine at Darbster? Reason #1 is that the restaurant’s outdoor patio area is a gathering place for you, your pup, and other puppies and their owners. Darbster offers a casual atmosphere in a tropical location that the pups and customers love. The outdoor patio area also has a beautiful water view. Reason #2 is definitely the most important reason: ALL of the restaurant’s profits are donated to reduce the number of animals euthanized in Palm Beach County. The money goes directly to the Darbster Foundation, which is a foundation that the owners established right when their restaurant opened in 2009. The foundation has no paid employees and runs just on volunteers. The owners have a strong passion for the treatment of animals, so they’ve made a major part of their life supporting the cause.

So far, 2017 has been a great year for Darbster. The Darbster Foundation has created a relationship with the Salem, NH Animal Rescue League, which has allowed them to transfer highly adoptable dogs from South Florida to their facility. Darbster also supports kittens. Darbster Kitty, which transfers adoptable kittens from South Florida to New Hampshire, is a growing part of the foundation. They have been transporting kittens at a rate of 12-20 per week and are projected to have more than 750 adoptions this year! They purchased a facility in New Hampshire to coordinate the adoptions and Foundation activities.

Darbster also supports the Healing Hearts Program at the Animal Care and Control facility in Palm Beach. Through this, they help dogs that are heart worm positive get adopted and treated with funds from the Darbster Foundation instead of being euthanized. Even further, Darbster sponsored the spay/neuter of 2,000 community animals and helped with the medical care of over 50 animals in 2014-2015.

Darbster will make you feel good about what you are eating and even better about what you are supporting. Every time you eat at Darbster, it is great to know that you are supporting a wonderful cause.
