These Dogs Survived 5 Months Stranded in the Pacific

This story is unbelievable.

Last Spring, two experienced sailors and their dogs, Zeus and Valentine, decided to take their sailboat from their home of Hawaii to Tahiti, which would take about a month.  Weeks in to the trip, however, the trip took an unexpected turn. During a storm, the sailboat’s engine failed. They sailors believed that they could still get to their destination though, but after two months of being stranded at sea, the sailors realized they were in trouble. They started to send out destress calls with no avail. The two dogs and the two people survived off a year’s supply of dry food and a water purifier. The sailors feared getting eaten by the numerous sharks circling the boat. One sailor thought that she was going to die within the next 24 hours, but then, after three months of sending distress calls, there was a sign of hope on the horizon. A Taiwanese fishing vessel spotted the adrift boat 900 miles southeast of Japan. The fishing vessel contacted the Guam Coast Guard, and the sailors and their two pups were rescued after five months of being lost in the Pacific. The dogs couldn’t stop running and wagging their tails when they got off the sailboat. The sailors said that they couldn’t have gotten through it if it wasn’t for the comfort of Zeus and Valentine.
